Heritage identification and protection
In 2010 Judy Gale Rechner revised the text of the "Heritage identification and protection" section of this website, which she had previously authored in 2002 for the FAHS as the hard-copy "Heritage Handbook". Fox under the Hill Hotel, Prospect, NSW - Magaard, Henry Gustav Hirsch - Gelatin silver print - [1930] - The Fox under the Hill - a once prosperous wayside inn of the old coaching days, now a deserted but picturesque old farm house standing just off the Great Western Road at Prospect, near Parramatta NSW. Originally built by a well-to-do Parramatta publican, John Piesley in 1832 on land granted to him in 1813. It was one of eight public houses between Parramatta and South Creek. In those days the road ran directly at right angles to the present Great Western Road.
