Ashfield and District Historical Society celebrates the history and heritage of Ashfield and surrounding suburbs in Sydney’s inner west. In 2023, ADHS celebrated its 50th anniversary. We collect and curate historical records, undertake research, publish journals and books and promote the heritage of our local district. We organise regular events throughout the year that include talks and presentations, site visits, walking tours, discussions and forums.

Jeparit and District Historical Society, Vic

Since 1973 the Jeparit and District Historical Society has been collecting photographs, other records and ephemera chronicling the evolution of this Wimmera farming community from the late 1800s and, where possible, records relating to First Nations people. As the birthplace of Sir Robert Menzies, the Society holds records relating to the Menzies family. The Society uses social media to actively promote and share its collection and initiatives and to establish then maintain a community of people far and wide interested in the district’s history especially its families and organisations. The Society holds the original Jeparit Leader newspapers, 1893-1988.

The Surrey Hills Historical Society provides events, cemetery tours and research assistance. It has a reference and research collection which is available for onsite use only. The collection includes photos, documents, memorabilia, advertisements, maps and ephemera relating to the history of Surrey Hills and Mont Albert, as well as a small collection of artefacts and small reference library.

Established in 1975 by a group of local history enthusiasts, the Broadmeadows Historical Society was established to collect and record the history of the district. The Society continues to be operated by a dedicated group of volunteers who conduct research to design and establish exhibitions in the Museum, as well as to produce publications.

We aim to make our collections accessible to the broader community for research and interest purposes. Our volunteer organisation, established in 1956 by local history enthusiasts, has been operating for 70 years as a non-profit.
